Industrial Accidents Industrial environments pose a unique set of circumstances. Much of the working machinery and equipment is either specialized or uniquely set up to perform specific tasks. Such multiplicity of equipment creates another multiplicity in the number of potential hazard areas. The most common hazard is the ever present number of nip points. Industrial machinery is usually sufficiently powerful to cause severe injury or death. Many such hazardous areas can be guarded by location, others by mechanical guarding, and if no other means are available then by sufficient warnings and emergency power cut off switches. The number of possible hazardous sites must be minimized to the maximum extent possible. |
