EF&T is often called upon to provide a structural analysis of an existing structure whose structural integrity has been challenged or is in doubt. EF&T has expertise in the analysis of steel, concrete or wood structures.

Structural design relies on the use of model building codes and specification codes. Building Codes generally treat all facets relating to safety and many of the topics as State and local building codes. On the other hand, Specification Codes refer to a set of design rules specifically encompassing a specific material such as steel, concrete, wood, etc. Examples of model building codes are: Uniform Building Code; BOCA, Building Officials and Code Administrators, Southern Building Code, etc. Example of specification codes or standards are: AISC, American Institute of Steel Construction, ACI, American Concrete Institute; AITC, American Institute of Timber Construction, etc.

Below this level are layers of standards dealing with specific areas of concern. Examples of such standards are: The Steel Joist Institute; Pre-stressed Concrete Institute; Steel Deck Institute; Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute; American Welding Society; etc. Another level would be the hundreds of trade organizations.

EF&T has extensive design and investigative experience in many different structural applications.

If you have a situation in which a structural failure has occurred, please call to learn how we might be of service.
