Testing Services Need for Testing It has been said that one picture is worth a thousand words . . . It may also be argued that one test is worth a thousand opinions . . . In product development the application of the proper theory to the design of any product certainly accelerates the time required for its completion. However, testing of the finished product (or in certain cases, a portion of the finished product) may reveal flaws that were somehow missed or at least establish its behavior while being submitted to various forces. Testing a prototype may save an enormous amount of time and money. In the case of product liability, testing can define defects and give added validity to previously expressed opinions. The results of tests can be used to refute previously stated opinions. The results of a carefully designed test are objective, not subjective, and should be repeatable with the same results.
